Overview:

 

Develop, recommend, and implement approved strategic plans for effective tax management programs applicable to all elements of this international pharmaceutical company.



Responsibilities:

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  Other duties may be assigned.

 

Ensure that the company complies with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to taxes through the review of tax and audit related information such as material assets, income, surpluses, liabilities, and expenditures to verify net worth, sales volumes, rebates and reported financial status.

 

Manages company's tax audits; recommend actions to be taken concerning all tax adjustments proposed by various taxing authorities.  Manage company response to tax audits by analyzing audit issues to determine nature and scope of tax liability.  Coordinate with internal and external counsel when necessary to confirm company position on particular tax issues.

 

Ensue maintenance of adequate tax records, prepared forms and work papers to comply with taxing authorities.  Determine that the company has filed all tax returns, reports, and declarations required by law.

 

Evaluate the effect of tax laws, regulations, rulings, and court cases on the company's tax liabilities and potential business activities.  Review company legal documents affecting the tax structure and render advice regarding appropriate actions to be taken.

 

Analyze the tax implications of proposed acquisitions and contracts to identify the best tax options and present potential problems.

 

Outline and implement tax planning strategy by understanding the company's products, services, and general business operations in both the US and international/Galderma global contexts.  Ensure all levels of management are aware of the tax consequence during the decision-making process.  When necessary, consult with Corporate/Global Tax staff or outside entities to reinforce company's tax position.

 

Manage personnel, assign duties, and establish appropriate controls over activities to achieve department objectives.



Qualifications:

Master's degree or equivalent degree in Accounting or Tax with seven plus years related experience in progressively responsible tax positions.  

 

The  candidate should currently or very recently have worked for a pharmaceutical company. 

 

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or law degree with a specialization in tax preferred.  Experience in tax with international mid-sized and large corporate structures is preferred.  Experience with transfer pricing and international company preferred.  Experience with Intellectual Properties strongly preferred.
